Tapabocas Mex- pandemic Sanitary Masks Brand
In March 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico, I co-founded a sanitary masks brand with three partners to offer effective protection that combined style, sustainability, and advanced technology. With over 15 unique designs, our reusable masks provided a safer, more comfortable, and environmentally friendly alternative to disposable options.
Our masks were designed with a three-layer laminate, featuring an inner layer made of high-density nanofibers. This advanced membrane offered 99.9% protection and filtration against viruses and bacteria while remaining breathable and comfortable for everyday use. Each mask had a lifespan of up to 30 washes without losing its protective properties, making it a reliable and sustainable choice.
Motivated by the environmental impact of disposable masks, we emphasized reusability to reduce waste by over 85%, lower climate impact by 3.5 times, and cut costs by 3.7 times compared to single-use options.
As the Social Media and Public Relations Lead, I drove our online presence, marketing campaigns, and audience engagement. We operated through direct-to-consumer (B2C) online sales and partnered with businesses (B2B) in Puebla and Mexico City, including restaurants and other establishments.
In just nine months (March–November 2020), we achieved over 1 million MXN (~$54,000 USD) in revenue. More importantly, we helped Mexicans stay safe while expressing themselves and making sustainable choices during an unprecedented time.
This project allowed me to refine my skills in social media strategy, branding, and purpose-driven business, while also highlighting the importance of combining innovation, sustainability, and style in a successful product.
